CONVErSION OF ruPEES AND PAISE Century #Computational Thinking
                                                                                            Skills

            Conversion of rupees into Paise

We know that: 1 rupee = 100 paise

To convert rupees into paise, we multiply the amount in rupees by 100.

            For example: a. 8 rupees = 8 × 100 paise = 800 paise

                              b. 16 rupees = 16 × 100 paise = 1600 paise

Conversion of rupees and Paise into Paise

To convert rupees and paise into paise, we multiply the amount in rupees by 100 and
add it to the number of paise.

            For example: a. 15 rupees 45 paise = (15 × 100) paise + 45 paise

                                                          = 1500 paise + 45 paise = 1545 p

                              b. `34.70 = 34 rupees 70 paise = (34 × 100) paise + 70 paise

                                            = 3400 paise + 70 paise = 3470 p

Short-cut: To convert an amount expressed in figures into paise, we remove
both the symbol (`) and the dot (.) and thus get the amount in paise.

                     For example: a. `36.55 = 3655 paise b. `18.30 = 1830 paise

            Conversion of Paise into rupees

To convert paise into rupees, simply count two digits from the right and put a dot. Do
not forget to put the ‘`’ symbol.

            For example: a. 1500 paise = `15.00 = `15

                              b. 2845 paise = `28.45

Conversion of Paise into rupees and Paise

To convert paise into rupees and paise, we put a dot after 2 digits from the right of
the given number. The number on the left of the dot shows the number of rupees and
that on its right shows the number of paise.

            For example: a. 2625 paise = `26.25 = 26 rupees 25 paise

                              b. 9080 paise = `90.80 = 90 rupees 80 paise
